Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask us before they commit. If your question is not here, ask — we answer plainly.
Is dental treatment in Guangzhou safe?
Large, established clinics in Guangzhou operate to the same clinical standards as good clinics anywhere: sterilised instruments, digital imaging, and named implant brands. The variable is the individual clinic, which is why we vet before recommending and tell you what to verify in person.
How much cheaper is it really?
For implants, crowns and orthodontics, expect 50–75% less than typical US, UK or Australian prices for comparable materials. The saving comes from lab costs, labour rates and overhead — not from using lower-grade implants, as long as the quote names the brand.
Do I need to speak Chinese?
No. Our partner clinics have English-speaking staff or work with an interpreter, and we handle the written communication. Bring a translation app anyway for taxis and restaurants.
Do I need a visa to visit China?
It depends on your passport. Many countries now have visa-free entry for short stays, and others can apply for a tourist visa online, but the rules change — check your own country's current requirements before booking anything.
How long do I need to stay?
For a clean, whitening, filling or a single crown, 3–5 days is enough. Implants usually need two trips because the bone needs 3–6 months to fuse. Aligners are started on one trip and finished on another.
Can it all be done in one trip?
Sometimes. Immediate-load implants, crowns, root canals, extractions and cosmetic work can often be completed in one 5–7 day trip. Two-stage implants cannot be rushed — ask the clinic for a written staged plan.
Who do I pay, and how?
You pay the clinic directly. Mobile payment (WeChat Pay / Alipay) linked to an international card is the easiest route; cash and bank cards also work at larger clinics. We never take payment from patients.
Will my insurance cover it?
Most policies exclude elective treatment abroad, and travel insurance rarely covers planned dental work. Emergency treatment for an injury is a different matter. If you are claiming anything, ask the clinic for a diagnosis letter, itemised receipts, clinical notes and copies of your imaging before you leave.
What if something goes wrong after I fly home?
Tell us and the clinic immediately rather than waiting. Most problems in the first weeks are minor and diagnosable from photos. Get the warranty terms in writing before treatment, and keep the written summary and imaging we give you at the end.
Are the prices on this site the final prices?
No. They are indicative ranges for planning. The final price comes from the clinic after an examination, and it should be given to you in writing before treatment starts.
Do you take a commission from the clinic?
Yes — the clinic pays us a referral fee. It does not change what you pay, and it is why our service is free to you. Ask us and we will tell you plainly.
Can I get my X-rays and records to take home?
Ask for them at the end of treatment and expect them as files or film. A clinic that will not hand over your own imaging is a red flag.
Which implant brands will be used?
That depends on the clinic and your case. Ask for the brand and model of the fixture, abutment and crown in writing. Korean and domestic systems are cheaper; Swiss and Swedish systems cost more.
What is the warranty on implants and crowns?
It varies by clinic and is not a given. Ask for the warranty period, what it covers, and what voids it — in writing, before treatment. We push for this, but the obligation is the clinic's.
Can I combine treatment with a holiday?
That is the usual approach. Plan treatment early in the trip and keep the last day or two free in case a fitting needs adjusting — a crown that needs a tweak is far easier to fix in Guangzhou than from home.
